As El Salvador gets ready for the March 9th runoff presidential elections, all recent polls show the FMLN presidential candidate, Salvador Sánchez Cerén, winning over ARENA’s right-wing candidate, Norman Quijano. Out of the eight polls conducted, all have projected an FMLN victory by a 10-18 point margin, including the most conservative polling centers that had projected a first-round ARENA victory. As ARENA struggles to consolidate its base, political analysts have made it clear that an ARENA victory at this stage would be all but impossible.
